Rangers have been knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Dundee Utd, at Ibrox this afternoon.
Rangers starting XI: McGregor, Bartley, Goian, Bocanegra, Wallace, Mervan, Edu, Davis, Papac, Aluko, Healy.
Dundee Utd starting XI: Pernis, Gunning, Kenneth, Dixon, Neilson, Mackay-Steven, Rankin, Armstrong, Robertson, Daly.
First half goals from Gavin Gunning and Johnny Russell gave the visitors a shock 2-0 lead at half time. Ally McCoist looked to the bench for the start of the second half, with Mervan Cellik making way for Salim Kerkar, as he looked to find a way to get back in to the match. Despite further attacking changes, with Papac making way to Gregg Wylde and David Healy being replaced by Andrew Little, Rangers were unable to create any real chances or start a come back.
By the time the final whistle blew, Ibrox was near empty and the players trudged off with their heads down, not even stopping for a quick glance and thanks to the fans who had stayed and supported until the end.
After the match Ally McCoist gave credit to Dundee Utd but also stated that Rangers defending for both goals, was particularly poor; "We'll just need to get the sleeves rolled up and get on with it. Come Monday, we'll get back out there training and moving forward".
Steven Davis felt that the team got what they deserved but also said; "It's up to everyone in the dressing room now to save something from the season with the league".
Attendance: A measly, 17,822.
