New Ranger Ricky Foster tonight interviewed for the official Rangers website confirmed that he knows how much of a challenge moving to Rangers is going to be and that he is under no illusions that he'll have to fight for his place in the team.

"This is a really good opportunity for me. I am under no illusions that I am going to walk into the team but I will work really hard to try to get there and if I do it will be a great personal achievement.

"So I have to hit the ground running and show what I can do in training and try to get into the manager's plans as early as I can. If you look at the Rangers team it's going to be difficult for me to break in. Hopefully my pace can be an asset in either of the full back positions or further forward."

Foster is as surprised as anyone that a move to Champions Rangers has materialised today, the speed of it especially has taken him by surprise. "It has all happened very quickly. I was surprised the way things have gone and I'm very excited by it. I realise that I am a squad player but I hope to do what I can to show that I can play for Rangers."

The youngster is ready to knuckle down and he is already surrounded by some familiar faces. "I know a lot of the players already having played against them a few times and also with them with Scotland under-21s. I know Steven Naismith, Steven Whittaker and Kirk Broadfoot from that time."

As with every signing for Rangers this season, the chance to have a run in Europe has been a real draw and will serve as a big motivator for Foster to get himself into the first team.

"The Champions League is the biggest stage of all and to have a chance of playing there is terrific. You look at the teams in the group and it's going to be brilliant.I have never been to a Champions League match at Ibrox but having watched on TV you can see that the atmosphere is incredible so it's something that I would love to be involved in."
