Rangers have this morning been linked with a move for Aberdeen defender Richard Foster. The full back has been at Aberdeen for seven years and played over 200 times for the Dons.
The Daily Record is reporting today that Walter Smith has identified the player as a potential option to bolster his defensive options. The very fast player has played in several roles for Aberdeen in defence and also in midfield, his versitility clearly something that Smith looks for in a player.
Foster has recently signed a contract extension at Aberdeen through to 2013, however with Aberdeen having thin finances it is believed that the player would be available for a price that would suit Rangers.
The player is a real favourite with the Dons fans and he has sealed a starting place over the last couple of seasons under Jimmy Calderwood and then Mark McGhee.
The Record don't speculate on what kind of fee would be involved in a deal, however any move would have to be pushed through quickly as the transfer windwo shuts Tuesday of next week.
