Rangers have rather bizaarely linked with a move for Juventus' World Cup winner Mauro Camoranese on Sky Sports' website today.
It's reported that Rangers and Everton are both 'weighing up moves' for the winger who has been with Juve for eight years before falling foul of their supporters in recent times. Birmingham have also been linked with the player in the past and were on the verge of a deal before negotiations were ended for dragging on for to long.
It's a link that would usually reserved for webshites like Football Rumours or the back pages of the Star, yet the usual credence given to articles carried by Sky Sports News means that it is worthy of reporting.
Surely there must be some reason why they are carrying the story. If anything, we might have enquired how much he is avaiilable for, what his wages are and then walked away.
Would we offer a large wage packet to a 33 year old winger?
Undoubtedly the player is quality and he was one of the Italian players at the World Cup to even partially do himself and his country proud, yet surely this is one that will be filed in the category of 'never going to happen' along with Eidur Gudjohnsen?
