Context is king! I see what you mean now

I'm confused about your points sorry mate. I thought you said it depends what you consider first team players Crawford etc. were considered first team players weren't any good, my point was around the fact in context the whole standard was lower and therefore the threshold to break into the first team was lower. Meaning I agree with you the youngsters were crap, but so was everyone else in the squad so not sure it's a valid point when comparing that situation to our current set up.
-
They were considered first team players in a first team which consisted of Ian Black, Cribari, Moshni and Hutton all pish, so the standard was already lower - can't really agree with you that this is a valid point in this discussion. Maybe 10/15 years ago I'd have agreed with you that a winning mentality should be put above all else, however just having a winning mentality isn't going to make you into a great footballer. Yes it's an excellent trait, but at a young age reading of the game, passing ability, first touch etc. are all as important as a desire to win, if not more important for me. The quicker a player can develop those skills the longer in their career they've got to hone them. Throwing them in the age group above also teaches them about taking a step up, the same qualities they'll need to master if they're to break into the first team. Can see where you're coming from completely as it's in the Rangers DNA, I just think we need to look past winning the development leagues year after year and focus on what are the best/fastest ways we can get these young players into our first team.
-
It's a difficult one, winning the youth league at the younger age levels means virtually nothing for the progression of youngsters into the first team. I think MW and the team have said they'll happily sacrifice results if it means playing u15s in the u17s, or u17s in the u19s etc. - some players out grow their age level and then stop developing until they reach the next age group. If it's better for their first team development and our first team to bump them up the chain quicker and sacrifice on results then I say keep doing it. Results for me is winning first team trophies, if this is long term vision I'm willing to give it more time.

Critical? Fuck off. Shit post, one of the worst I've seen. 1 out of 10. Try harder next time. See me.

Is it on TV lads?

Very positive signs and our best performance in a while, but it's one game. We need a level of consistency now and like other posters have said when we do this against top six teams then we'll be making real progress. Positive signs though.

Good start. Direct front three. Need an early goal.

A shit point, poorly made.

I agree with this, he marshaled them well. Also his starting position for each attack seemed to be perfect, gave their strikers the smallest possible angle for each of their shots - I always think Wes stays too central when he plays. Would like to see Gilks given a run.

No mate, sources are The Sun and some guy's pal who is a painter and decorator. But reports seem to confirm he is injured, not sure the club will say anything until after the game against the scum.
-
Good point, hope he is ready for Sunday though. Need energy and dynamic play from our middle three. My front six would be. Halliday Holt Windass Forrester Miller Mckay
-
What do you mean? Are you suggesting Halliday is in there scalping CMs? Not sure you can blame it on the training, you can put it down to bad luck and recent injury history of the players we've got in there. Crooks - arrived injured Rossiter - was out injured the majority of the last two seasons Windass - granted has been injured twice which is concerning Holt - was injured for a wee while last season Kranjcar - has always been injury prone Barton - is a fud Actually, come to think of it - Halliday is the only one who hasn't been injured. Maybe he has been taking players out
-
I agree completely, but it's not just Warburton. Most managers do it now days, regardless of the team they're playing if it's the league cup they rotate keepers. Frustrating as fuck but the way it is. Gilks doesn't seem great with the ball at his feet and that's our whole style, hope he doesn't fuck up on Sunday.

Sorry, Goram's form just about swung it for me.
