Warburton's 'philosophy'

141 posts in this topic

I think he has a philosophy but the most important point is that is not working, obviously things can't happen overnight but it's been a regression for months now rather than a progression

He always said at first it only mattered what Rangers did, but surely someone must go to other games even if he does not.

A great attitude to portray, but unless you're managing Barca then it's an attitude that won't serve you well in reality.

Hopefully he realises this statement is purely mind games and if he's not going to watch the opposition I hope as you say he's having them watched and is studying any TV coverage at the very least

I'm not fussed at all about how the U20's team are doing. Our only concern should be whether or not we can get a couple of players to eventually make the step up to the first team, not how the squad as a whole is performing. We need those rare bits of real quality to come through rather than a good(ish) squad.

The problem is if young quality players are in a team that's getting gubbed every week they'll start to hide. Strikers will look for the pass instead of taking the shot. Midfielders will take the back pass or sideways pass rather than try the defence splitting pass. And defender will be looking for the Andrex every time there's a corner.

I'm not sure how our "old young" players are doing on loan but I'd be looking at getting a few back

Philosophy and Warburton in the same sentence? Aye right.

Nice guy, but ffs, anyone as one dimensional would be abusing the word.

Another myth that the opposition isn't analysed... listen the pre Match interviews ffs!! He says they watch re runs of games from the opposition to see what the most likely route of football will be, but at the end of the day if our own squad did their jobs then we needn't worry about the others.

i can remember way back in 09 Walter going 451 at the sheep simply because they beat the tims the week before and so many Rangers fans were extremely in happy at showing a shite team (cos that is exactly what they were and are) that much respect. We drew 1-1. Warburton would rather stick to his own principles and at least attempt to win the game rather than revert to an ultra defensive game and hope not to lose.

we signed guys who are not used to playing for a Big club and all projects to transform the club from top to bottom do not come off in 18 months anywhere in the world. Do you not think he and king have spoken about the inevitable bumps and slip ups? The fact of the matter is that no matter the bitchiness about him or made up rumours and fans wanting him at fault for everything he will get the time to change the club for the better in the long term. He might not see a title winning season but he's laying the foundations for a successful and more importantly sustainable future

You sure you are not thinking of the 0-0 game the week after they beat the bheggars 4-2?

That was a point gained compared to Warburtons current teams effort at pittodrie.

We also won the league that season by 4 points and 2 goals better off.

Say we had went gung ho up there and got beat 4-2 like the bheggars did.

And they went and sat in and sneaked a 1-0 win up there.

That would be the points and goal difference changed in their favour and they win the league.

Mark Warburton has to quickly realise that points matter the most, for a diddy team getting a point off us is a major scalp so they up their game V us.

I get your point, but we have went backwards in the past 6 months, there has been no progress, the football is stinking to watch. You really think these projects will come good? Who? Crooks? Dodoo? Kieran? He has made an arse of it and it's completely out his depth managing a club of our size. Won't last season

To me that would show whether or not they can cut it in the first team. You don't want players that hide or play safe passes as soon as the going gets tough.

I think most of the games that have been a draw have been close to winning, and I'd say that the team is definitely the 2nd best in the SPFL coming on 1st and will finish second this season, and Warburton will stay for next season after that in my opinion to hopefully continue the push for 55.

I don't think Rangers have went backwards in the last 6 months at all, they've went forward and also have players like Garner, Windass, Rossiter, Hodson and Crooks in the squad.

The Dundee 4-0 game was a great performance but to be honest I think that SPFL teams are usually tougher to beat in league games than that game showed. Even Celtic are tougher to beat now than in April and that was a cup game that finished a draw at 90 mins, where I'm pretty sure they had a few close chances in the late periods before McKay's wonder goal.

Firstly I am not suggesting that players hide as soon as the going gets tough. But if your getting beat week after week, then eventually if will get to you.

If a player can flourish in such an environment, then we will have found a gem. But as I see it we cannot sacrifice the bulk of our young players in an effort to find one gem.

Bring back some of the loan players and let our youngsters learn to be winners, rather than learning to be comfortable with defeat

Warburtons best spell at the club came in his first few months everything was going great we had a style of play other teams feared, we looked fitter faster and a better than everyone, how we have went from that to this i don't know, Warburton doesn't seem to know either.

I don't believe we have regressed, we just need that special player to make us click. Whether we have or need one we'll find out in the new year.

Can that special player tighten up midfield, score goals and defend corners ?

His red y-fronts will need to be on the outside of his shorts.
